resilient Furniture for Resilient spaces

Roburscape’s mission is to create something exceptionally valuable.

To make products that complement spaces, that play on the senses.

Responsible Manufacturing

The wood used in our furniture is processed locally from responsible, well managed woodlots. We endorse responsible forest management alongside selective logging. Durability and longevity combined with the low maintenance of our products is instrumental to our responsible stewardship of the earth’s natural resources. North American Hardwoods such as, White Oak are abundant, renewing, and sustainable. An excellent choice for eco-effective processes in our designs. White Oak is also the top choice for use in our products for its beauty, durability, workability, and the great abundance of this locally grown and harvested timber.

Made to last

White Oak is the obvious choice if you want top of the range hardwood with incredible durability. White Oak can be oiled periodically to protect its original wood hue, but it will weather to a beautiful natural silvery grey colour over the years. All Green White Oak will age beautifully resulting in weathered changes such as small splits and augmented grain details. The market of urban, outdoor furniture is flooded with imported pre-treated unsubstantial furniture made to last only a few years until replacement is required. White Oak is stronger and harder than most hardwoods including many exotic hardwoods and it lasts for decades. It has long been used to build boats, due to its structural ability to repel water, which also helps it resist rot.

The supports under the timbers are manufactured out of top grade steel, finished in either durable powder coating or galvanization. Roburscape also uses untreated CorTen steel. This unique product forms an oxidized layer over time creating an impenetrable protective rust patina on the steel, which then requires no further maintenance. CorTen is low alloy steel with a combination of chrome, copper and nickel. Its use as the support pieces under the Oak timbers creates a warm and natural look in public spaces. The layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of weather; the steel is allowed to rust in order to form the protective coating. When finished oxidizing, the material will not stain on light-coloured surfaces. CorTen can be applied untreated in outdoor spaces, which makes post-processing and paint-coating unnecessary.

The Weathering of Wood — A Natural Process

Weathering is the general term used to describe the physical change materials exhibit with exposure to the outside elements. Exterior furniture encounters many harsh extremities like moisture, sunlight, heat and cold, chemicals and abrasion, all factors in the natural weathering process. The natural wood options that Roburscape offers will maintain their structural integrity and resist deterioration for many years without any kind of maintenance. White Oak, primarily used in most of our products, is naturally decay resistant eliminating the need to treat it with toxic chemicals which can be harmful to people and the environment.
